DIY: Tie-Dye
A great way to brighten up your wardrobe is with tie dye pieces. They are fun, flirty, and super cute for spring/summer.
Here are some of my favourite pieces:
If you prefer to create your own tie dye pieces, it is cheap and very easy!
All you need is:
- Elastic bands
- Dye kit
- White clothing (Shirt, pants, socks, pillow case, etc.)
- Bucket
- Rubber gloves
- Marbles (optional)
STEP 1: First prepare dye according to package. Make sure to wear rubber gloves since the dye can also stain your hands.
STEP 2: Whatever style/design you prefer, place elastics around garment, or even marbles for a circle-effect.
STEP 3: Place your garment in the dye for at least 15-20 minutes. The longer the garment is in the dye, the darker the colour.
STEP 4: Once you remove the garment from the dye, rinse it with cold water. Ring out garment until the water is clear.
STEP 5: Remove the rubber bands and marbles to see your creation.
I'm kinda in love with that last maxi dress, great post!
ReplyDeleteI have such fond memories of tie-dying at camp. But these versions are much, much more beautiful than my creations were!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the gypsy maxi dresses! I haven't tie-dyed anything in forever but I remember it was always so fun!
