Etc...: Passover

Happy Passover!

One of the most celebrated Jewish holidays, Passover begins tonight. Unfortunately I will be missing seder's in Toronto since I am stuck at school with essays and assignments.

For the next week, all Jews will be eating matzah, an unleavened bread to commemorate the haste with which the Jews had to leave Egypt.

Here are some of my favourite matzah recipes:

Chag Sameach! Enjoy your seders!

Shoe-Craze: Wedges

Wild about Wedges

Perfect for a summer day or night on the town, wedges are a great addition to any outfit. They add height, and lengthen your legs (which is perfect for people like me, being 5'1). With many different styles, cork wedge, gladiator wedge, pump, strappy sandal, and espadrille, wedges are a popular trend for the spring/summer.

Accesorize: Rachel Leigh

Rachel Leigh Jewelry

My obsession with jewelry has grown vastly over the past couple months. I never used to go on shopping hunts for trendy earrings or bracelets, since I usually wore my basic Tiffany's or other jewelry from family. However, accessorizing my outfits with different jewelry is always on my mind.

For a couple months, I have been admiring Rachel Leigh jewelry. I somehow stumbled upon her collection, and I fell in love. She has been designing jewelry for 6 years, and her collection draws inspiration from runway trends and styling concepts to create a line that is fashion-forward, versatile, chic, and bold.

Her collection includes: rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and headbands. Rachel Leigh adds a feminine touch to all of her pieces, uses pretty palettes, and is reasonably priced.

Here are some of my faves:

Her collection is available in stores in the US, Canada, internationally, and online at ShopBop. The jewelry from her collection is a great way to add colour to an outfit, or make your outfit more fashionable.

Etc...: Rock Your Vogue

Rock Your Vogue Fashion Show

This Friday, students at the University of Western Ontario will be presenting the annual OHM Fashion Show. The show is a mix of dancing and fashion, with a "Rock Your Vogue" theme. Each year OHM donates the net proceeds raised through the fashion show to the Canadian Cancer Society to support the fight against cancer. The show will feature talented dancers, performing jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap, and acro routines. The designers are all students, and some OHM alumni will be presented, such as Erin Kleinberg.

Tickets are on sale now at the UCC, InfoSource, OHM Booth for $15 or $20 at the door. The show is at Centennial Hall, in London ON. Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7:00.

It is a great cause, and will be a rocking night of student talent!

PS: Look for me on stage, I'm a dancer and choreographer.

DIY: Tie Dye

DIY: Tie-Dye

A great way to brighten up your wardrobe is with tie dye pieces. They are fun, flirty, and super cute for spring/summer.

Here are some of my favourite pieces:

If you prefer to create your own tie dye pieces, it is cheap and very easy!

All you need is:
- Elastic bands
- Dye kit
- White clothing (Shirt, pants, socks, pillow case, etc.)
- Bucket
- Rubber gloves
- Marbles (optional)

STEP 1: First prepare dye according to package. Make sure to wear rubber gloves since the dye can also stain your hands.

STEP 2: Whatever style/design you prefer, place elastics around garment, or even marbles for a circle-effect.

STEP 3: Place your garment in the dye for at least 15-20 minutes. The longer the garment is in the dye, the darker the colour.

STEP 4: Once you remove the garment from the dye, rinse it with cold water. Ring out garment until the water is clear.

STEP 5: Remove the rubber bands and marbles to see your creation.

Accesorize: La Mer Watches

La Mer Watches

As much as I love the big-faced Michael Kors/Toy watches, I am sort of bored of the big watch trend. A watch should last a long time, but it is also a fashion statement.

My new obsession is La Mer watches. It's a bracelet and a watch in one! One of the best aspects about La Mer is you can personalize your own watch online. You choose the face (gold/silver/white/black), the leather strap (black, grey, pink, purple, green, brown, etc.), and the charm (multi chains, peace signs, single chain, etc.). You can also choose from the collection if you prefer not to personalize your own. They are also pretty reasonably priced, ranging from $100-$135.

Here are some of my favourites:

With my birthday at the end of the month, I'm pretty sure this is going to be on the long list of presents I'm hoping to get!

The StacieBlair Review: Oscar's 2010

Oscar's Best Dressed

TOP PICK:
Sandra Bullock: Well-deserved oscar winner for lead role in The Blind Side, and stunning lace and metallic Marchesa sheath.

Runner Up:
Anna Kendrick: This nominee for best supporting actress wore a Elie Saab Couture off the shoulder blush gown. There was a trend at the awards for pale colors, but Anna's hair, dress, and clutch were the total package.

3rd Place:
Sarah Jessica Parker: Known for her fabulous style and outfits in Sex and the City, and offscreen, SJP wore a pale yellow Chanel couture gown. The silver jewelry and embroidery on the top of her gown added a nice touch.

4th Place:
Cameron Diaz: Looked dazzling in her strapless embellished Oscar De La Renta gown. Although she was not nominated, her dress is one of my top picks for the night.

5th Place:
Nicole Richie: Going for something a little different, Nicole wore a 60's glam beaded, backless, long-sleeved Reem Acra gown. This showed off her petite figure and turned heads on the red carpet.

6th Place:
Rachel McAdams: Supporting my fellow Canadian, Rachel wore a pastel-patterned Elie Saab Haute couture gown. Her dress brought a spring-vibe, with the many pretty colours in it.

Food Glorious Food: Frozen Yogurt

Get FroYo at: Yoyo's Yogurt Cafe

If you're like me and obsessed with frozen yogurt, I have news for all Londoners (Ontario)!

A new frozen yogurt cafe opened up! It is called YoYo Yogurt Cafe, and it is self-serve. Meaning, you choose your flavour (they have about 8 flavours, like tart, raspberry, strawberry, etc... all being low fat and kosher), choose whatever your toppings you want (have 20+ toppings, like strawberries, kiwi, Oreo's, cereal, and tons more), then you weigh your froyo and pay by the ounce.

It is $0.55/ounce, and there are different size cups so you can choose if you want a big or small treat.

It is located on Richmond Street, between Dufferin and Kent St.

Since I am only in London for less than 6 weeks, I hope the same kind of cafe opens up in Toronto soon!
